Faculty of Arts Steinway Concert Invitation design
An elegant concert invitation design to celebrate a significant milestone.
The University of Alberta Faculty of Arts Department of Music achieved a significant milestone in 2017 when they reached their goal of raising funds to purchase a Steinway Model D concert grand piano. To celebrate this accomplishment, they hosted a private concert event for key donors and contributors to showcase the new piano. The designed promotional materials included a Save the Date, invitation and toolkit for online promotion. The overall design was inspired by the Art Deco movement and the Steinway piano itself. The top of the piano is elegantly crafted with abstract, intersecting lines and forms. This beauty and craft holds the patents that makes the Steinway piano so superior. The design of the invitation uses lines, diagonals, circles and other elements as graphics that pull inspiration from the shapes of the piano. Furniture, art and design from the era the piano was originally invented were very ornate and abstract, continuously using borders and graphics to decorate the pieces. The supporting typefaces are vintage, elegant and modern. For the printing, a gold ink was used to add a touch of luxury.
