March Events for Creatives & Designers in Edmonton
I’m constantly looking for events for the creative and design community in Edmonton. Networking and getting involved in the community are essential to staying connected and sane, especially when you work from home. I’ve created a short and sweet list of events happening this month that I wanted to share with you. Be sure to mark your calendar and save the date!
March 8 & 9, 2019 | Keynote Friday, conference all day Saturday | $265–$295 | MacEwan University
What is it? iMedia is a two-day social media conference focused on giving marketing and communications professionals and entrepreneurs a tactical, hands-on approach to digital marketing.
Why is it awesome? Conferences are always amazing when you’re self-employed. This one gives you a hands-on approach to learning and a chance to network by putting you in a room with digital marketers across Canada.
March 14, 2019 | 5:30pm | $25–$60 | Royal Alberta Museum
What is it? The Cannes Lions Screening is an opportunity to enjoy a screening of the best of TV and digital video advertising of the year from around the world.
Why is it awesome? You not only get to network, but you get to watch the funniest, saddest, scariest commercials from around the world. It’s so much fun!
March 15, 2019 | 8:30am | Free! | Location TBD!
What is it? Creative Mornings is a worldwide breakfast lecture series for the creative community. The free monthly events feature a short talk and breakfast!
Why is it awesome? Tasty breakfast, hot coffee, networking, creatives, inspiration. . . The list goes on. Hands-down one of the best events to attend as a designer.
Talk: March 19, 2019 | 7:00pm | $20 | Telus Centre, University of Alberta Campus
Workshop: March 20, 2019 | 6:00pm | $85 | Visual Communications Design Studio, University of Alberta Campus
What is it? Kelli Anderson is a designer based out of New York who creates all kinds of crazy infographics and paper-craft goods. I’ve been a huge fan of hers for a very, very long time! The GDC is bringing her to our city for a camera pop-up book creation workshop and a talk.
Why is it awesome? It’s not every day an international designer comes to our amazing city. This GDC event will bring fellow designers together for a chance to network and listen to an amazing speaker.
Mixer + Live Music: March 22, 2019 | 6:00pm
Conference: March 23, 2019 | 10:00am | $30 | Roundhouse
What is it? Hosted by the MacEwan Design Students Organization, Orange is a student-led design conference. The conference brings together bright minds to give talks and host workshops that are design-focused, fostering education and appreciation of the design industry in Edmonton.
Why is it awesome? Talks, workshops, networking, and more! This conference is all about learning and making connections. If you’re a student, this is the perfect event for you!
March 27, 2019 | 6:30pm | $40 | District Café
What is it? Come to District Cafe for cross stitching and cocktails on a weekday! Enjoy a
two-hour crafting session while enjoying tasty drinks with your girlfriends or your date!
Why is it awesome? The title says it all: cocktails and a two-hour cross-stitching craft night! Sometimes it’s nice to switch it up and flex your creativity in a new way.
